Celebutante Style

I love Nicole Richie's outfit in this photo. Let me count the ways, first of all I love the Givenchy booties with the cutouts. Some people call them gladiator heels but I don't see it in this style. Second I love the cutoff shorts and loose top. Another thing that stands out to me is the bangles that are both high on her arm and hanging at her wrist; it's slightly more unusual than just one or the other. Finally, who can forget her signature headband that she often has around her forehead. Such a simple but well put together outfit.

Summer Lovin'

I love Serena's summer dress that she is wearing in this screen shot. The lace and embroidered flowers are so delicate and feminine. I also really like the scalloped hem of the dress. It's a completely different style from what you usually see on Serena's character.

Another Romper

I still have faith that rompers can be incredibly cute on non-celebrities. In fact, I bought one today (I know I have a terrible love affair with shopping). Here is another picture that is proof they can work.

Spring is in the Air

I recently saw this editorial in Glamour's March 2010 issue and I can't get over the dress in the middle. It's so sweet and flirty, perfect for a tea party. I also like how you don't see a lot of shoulder but you do see a lot of leg, very classy. I am so ready for spring :)

Here's the rest just cause I really liked it.

Floral Stud Earrings

I desperately want a pair of flower stud earrings, they seem to really make an outfit complete.
I personally think bigger is better; the larger they are the more of a statement they make.

Jenny Humphrey

Doesn't the girl in this picture look like a real-life Jenny Humphrey? She's so young but so stylish. I really like her jacket because the pattern is unlike most. It kind of reminds me of a print that might be on a tie. Look at her shoes and bag too! I think at this age I was still running around in the mud.

Miss Lyndel Yeo

I absolutely love these dresses by Australian designer Miss Lyndel Yeo. I'm only extremely disappointed that they are from the Spring 2008 collection. A few years too late. :(

Color

Shape -less

 

I love the shape of this girl's dress. I feel like the almost lack of shape makes this dress's shape so much more interesting. The colors are so fun and different and the black boots really weight the airy dress down giving a perfect balance to the outfit. I also really like that her square tan bag has very clean lines. 

I think that when girls have air-dried 'undone' hair it's really beautiful and the best look. Now if only I could come to terms with my own locks..

Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson looks so cute as usual. I love that her over-sized sweater and her black shorts end only an inch short of one another. Moreover, I think the necklace that drops down to the waist of her shorts creates a very great visual effect. Finally, I love that her tan heels are MaryJane inspired. 

Ponytails

I am so glad to see all these girls with their hair pulled back into ponytails. I think these updo's are completely under-rated because of their simplicity and the lack of hair seen from the front. However, whenever a girl is dressed nicely and has her hair pulled back it gives her a completely different aura. It looks sophisticated and clean cut.

The Original Black Dress

Its in my opinion that Audrey Hepburn created the black dress staple piece that every woman should have in her wardrobe. In the picture you can see the original black dress from the movie Breakfast at Tiffanys. On the mannequin, the dress looks so simple yet, on Audrey with her amazing jewelery, up-do, and gloves, the dress literally comes to life. Because the movie revolves around Tiffanys, the jewelery store, Audrey needed a dress to be almost a canvas for the jewelery she is wearing, and the black dress works fabulously. And thus, I believe the black dress boomed. That's the great thing about black, you get to display some of those amazing jewelry accessories that really don't work with any other color. I'm pretty sure if you own one simple black dress in your wardrobe, it will probably never go out of style.

Off the Shoulder

Here is another really stylish, sheer, off-the-shoulder top on Heidi Klum. The white of her shorts and the tank make this outfit the perfect relaxed outfit. Heidi can do no wrong.

Boyfriend Shorts

I really like the way the girl is almost swimming in her over sized sweater, floppy hat and boyfriend shorts. It looks really playful and summery. I love that the sweater is hanging off her shoulder too. She is showing the perfect amount of skin.

Tucked In

Recently with the rising trend of high waisted skirts it is more common to see tops and blouses tucked into bottoms. However, I don't often see anyone tucking anything into shorts like styled in the image above. I really like this look, it's different and I believe it's bound to come around within the next few months.

Leopard Coat

I have never been afraid to experiment with leopard print in the right ways. However, living in San Diego, people simply do not own many coats, let alone a leopard one. However, I really have always wanted to own a pea coat done in leopard print. The perfect way to incorporate such a bold piece in your wardrobe can be seen in the photo with the four women. The two wearing the leopard print look absolutely gorgeous and immediately they catch my eye. I particularly like how the one woman is wearing red gloves and and brownish booties with her coat. She looks so confident! Then again the woman on her right has a great pair of boots on and a beautiful Chanel bag that also compliment coat. Both woman know exactly how to wear the leopard coat without falling into that tight-fitted animal print territory (sort of ghetto fabulous ) that sometimes frightens people from owning anything with an animal print. Someday, when I work in a big city, maybe near home in San Francisco, I'll invest in a bold leopard coat. But right now I'll just have to admire these women, because in San Diego I'd stick out like a sore thumb.

P.S. I added the Katy Perry picture because that leopard jacket is Juicy Couture and runs about $400. Still pricey but seems attainable.

Motorcycle Boots Done Feminine

At this point in my life I have really become OBSESSED with boots. Pretty much all styles and all types and motorcycle boots are no exception. While I don't own a pair yet, this picture makes me want my own pair NOW! It amazes me of completely feminine this girl looks in such a heavy boot. She pairs them with a miniskirt and heavy jacket and I just feel the whole look works. I want my pair nowwwww...

Military Coat

Personally, I am not buying too much into the military inspired style, not completely sure why. This jacket, on the other hand stands out far above the rest. The bright red and black is just works perfectly together making her legs miles high and the black clasps on the jacket are the perfect adornments to comply with her hat and fringe clutch. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Oh p.s. I keep seeing these almost clear glasses, I think they look smart.

Accessorize!

You most likely would never wear this much jewelry at once, and I would personally advise against it, but I love that this photo shoot from Harpers Bazaar aligns all different styles (mostly tribal) of bracelets, rings, and more against each other. It really shows a spectrum of options and makes for a fantastic visual.

Seventies

The style in the picture really strikes me. Although it is definitely pulled straight out of the seventies it has an essence about it that is fresh and new. I think it has a lot to do with the minimal makeup on the model and her roots growing out through her wavy hair. A very modest shirt tucked into a floral skirt is not something that is often seen in current street fashion but I definitely think it is an inspiring outfit.

Liquid Leggings

We were experimenting with liquid leggings the other day trying to find an outfit that would work with them. They are very unique and cute yet because of the former are difficult to pair with other clothing articles. However, I think that Ashley Olsen does a good job wearing them with her lengthy sweater, studded headband and congac heels.

"Mixing" Again...

Earlier Kiwi wrote about the mixing of the studded belt contrasting with the soft pale pink top. I LOVE this idea and immediately I thought back to this Carrie Bradshaw outfit. How cute it the pink dress already? Yet, add the belt and, to make it even more confusing and fabulous, the pearls you end up with a completely different look than when you might see the pink dress hanging on the rack in the store. Just goes to show the importance of accessorizing...

Shocking Shorts

I'm all about shorts, maybe I'm preparing for summer but I just noticed that whenever I see a thumbnail of someone with shorts I enlarge it. This picture, however, if I didn't like them before, I'm definitely sold now. If fashion icon Victoria Beckham is wearing them... of course she is wearing them with a blazer, ooh shorts with a blazer...

Paris Spring Fashion Week 2010

Here are just some of my personal favorites from the many looks that walked the runway this Spring Fashion Week in Paris. From the top we have Hermes, Christian Dior, and Givenchy. Let me tell you why I love the tennis inspired Hermes at the top: look at the outfit on the runway and in your head pull apart the fabulous separates this model is wearing. From the sport coat to the gorgeous white Hermes legendary Birkin bag, I feel like every item in this outfit can be worn several ways. The Dior sort of speaks for itself. Sort of an old Hollywood glamour with a a more modern fit. I'd kill to wear that gown for 5 minutes. Then we have the Grecian style Givenchy that could have ended up being any old toga-esque dress yet, on the right, the heavy shoulder piece makes for a great contrast from the delicate, flowing material.

The Bold and The Beautiful

How envious are you that this girl can wear this on the street? Well, my answer to that would be extremely. Not to mention how beautiful the girl is with her sun kissed hair and light eyes but look at the draping on the back of the dress! The beaded shoulder makes me believe I can only imagine how the front looks. As if all of that isn't enough she also has on leather otk books. It's imperative to live somewhere where people are so daring for at least a short time in your life.

Boy Tanks

One style I keep gravitating towards is these tops that hang way low allowing a glimpse of a sports bra or tighter top underneath. I think this is mainly because it is incredibly casual and comfortable for a warm day but still has more visual elements than a more plain top.

I also am really glad to see not-so-short shorts become more prominent because they give a wider range to undertake.

Mixing III

Now I don't know if I'm quite gutsy enough to wear lingerie in public but I really do like that the model is wearing a full black mini skirt under a long button up. It's another example of contrasting styles that fascinates me.

Mixing

Let's ignore the photography/model in this picture and only look at the clothing. I really like the way this girl's outfit merges two completely different styles to form a completely new shade. The studded belt in contrast with the pink frilly skirt really intrigues me; mostly because I can't put my finger on what her personality might be like. I definitely want to experiment with this idea.

Navy Blue & Black

And she looks fabulous.

I really like the wide sleeves on her peacoat and her stylized boots. Most of all, I love the vibrant red of her hair and the embellishment on her bag.
